Where we meet
About me
Hi Bushmeaders,
I've lived in Bushmead for over 15 years. Some of you will know that sadly I lost my mum in April this year, having taken her own life, aged 71 years.
It's been a year of readjustment and also feeling the support of the community around me.
Before my mum died I was just about to set off on a 5-week trip to walk 500 miles across Spain (the Camino de Santiago). I found the training thoroughly enjoyable and continue to use walking as a quick and easy way to feel good and connect with others.
I'm a firm believer that we all have something to give and that good things happen when people get together.
So I'll be leading a pop-up walking group from Friday 29 November for 10 weeks ... to help people in our community feel good in their heads and hearts.
I'm fundraising for CALM
In January 2025, me and my friend Kelly will be walking a marathon in London to raise money for the charity CALM (the Campaign Against Living Miserably).
CALM is a suicide prevention charity helping people find the support they need, including a life-saving helpline for people who can’t see a way forward, have lost someone to suicide, or are worried about their friends or loved ones.
As part of CALM's London Winter Walk 2025 we'll be taking on the challenge of walking 26 miles (42 km) around London.
£12.20 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.
